The folksy design for this small panel was inspired by an antique Hungarian platter.
‘I love the bird and the fanciful flowers, which I thought would be prefect for crewel embroidery. The original design was painted in dark muted shades of blue, red and copper bu I enjoyed stitching my version in bright cheerful colours using a variety of my favorite crewel work stitches to create texture’ – Anna Scott.
The size of the panel is prefect for a small zipped pouch or perhaps to use as a pocket on a larger bag. The detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you but you may find it handy to have a good stitch directory at hand.
**Novice – MODERATE, perfect if you are familiar with basic embroidery stitches and want to practice your skills or are new to crewel embroidery.
