Working Title: Stumpwork Parrot & Vine
Skill Level: Intermediate – Advanced
The project is best suited for stitchers at an intermediate to advanced level who enjoy embroidery that blends historical inspiration with traditional techniques and intricate stitching and are looking to further develop their skills.
The small panel will feature a Major Mitchell cockatoo with his striking red and yellow crest, sitting on a lush vine, heavy with ripe grapes. The embroidery will be stitched onto pale blue silk fabric using mostly silk threads, to achieve a rich, glossy finish. The design will be created with variety of stitches and raised embroidery techniques, such as picots, needle lace and wired shapes to create dimension and texture.
