This stunning Hardangar Clock is an innovative and modern use of this traditional technique. Hardangar embroidery is a traditional form of White Work involving satin stitch. Previously it was used mainly on clothing from the Hardangar region of Norway, where it was worked with white thread on white cloth.
These instructions allow you to make this adorable clock. The clockwork mechanics, threads and fabric can be bought in store and the frame we have mounted this work in can be purchased from Ikea.
You will need 30cm Lugana or other evenweave linen and a ball of DMC Perle 8 and Perle 12.
Do the embroidery in white, or use some of your stash to brighten your wall!
