Crewel Work * * Moderate **
Flowers for Ellaine is a great project if you are confident with basic embroidery stitches, have a little experience or are new to crewel work.
The needle book and scissor case are decorated with flowers and foliage inspired by traditional crewel embroidery. The embroidery is worked in fine hand dyed, shaded crewel yarns onto linen fabric using mostly common embroidery stitches. The needle book has wool felt pages and 4 pockets to hold plenty of needles and pins. Both items are lined and back with complementary Liberty print fabrics.
The detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you step by step through the project however, you might find it helpful to have a stitch directory at hand – I always do.
