I’m hoping this Bishop pattern will be a game changer …. ending the battle to tame the sleeve seams when pleating a Bishop.
A seamless Bishop is not new – there are a few vintage patterns (and two, not so vintage) out there, but they were mostly not specifically for smocking and were limited to a narrow range of small sizes. The older ones had dated styling and didn’t fit very well.
At the start, I didn’t just want to remove the seams from my bishops, I wanted to go further and possibly achieve an alternative to the more modern styling of the bishop patterns commonly used today ~ a smocked round yoke, bound neckline and the familiar sleeve choices, a flutter (Angel) sleeve and a short puff sleeve.
This will challenge a few long held beliefs that cutting down the length (instead of selvedge to selvedge) will end in chaos …. believe me … it won’t.
