I am constantly in awe of the many talented people involved with Australian Smocking & Embroidery. Each in their own way, add to the magazine’s richness, with a passion that has become the trademark we so proudly attain to.
In this issue, our special group of creative contributors have given us a feast of inspiring projects.
Julie Graue has been busy with the creation of three wonderful dresses. Beginning with The Happy Child on page 4, this pretty summer dress has simple smocking and is decorated with bullion loop daisies. The second, Princess Priya on page 48, is made from batiste embroidered with delicate shadow work. Young Love on page 28, a special occasion dress with a smocked and beaded insert and tulle overskirt, completes the trio.
For a casual look, Nina Colloca has created the cute peasant top on page 10 called The Flower Seller. An ideal kindy dress, Stepping Out by Cecily Davey, Begins on page 16.
Julia on page 22, a timeless ladies summer dress by Sharon Venhoek, features a smocked insert bordered with bullion knot roses. On page 34, we feature a beaded evening bag which would be suitable for the young or the young at heart.
With little boys in mind, Kathy Barac and I have created a picture smocked design suitable for applying to ready made clothes, see Up, Up and Away on page 38. And for baby girls, we have Little Rose on page 42, a delightful silk dupion bishop by Kris Richards
